We share our course, the West Course, with the Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club who own and operate the course.

A touch under 6,000 yards at 5,537 yards, the West Course has consistently been voted one of the best in the country in its category; the number one course under 6,000 yards by Golf World in 2013, 14th in Sussex by Top 100 Golf Courses, and most recently a GB&I Top 100 Course by Golf World for courses with green fees of less than £70.

The west course offers a genuine test of golf with its tight fairways, undulating greens, and well-protected pin positions. These elements demand both strategy and skill, making every round a new challenge.

Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club operate a sustainable approach to golf course management, meaning a departure from heavy reliance on pesticides, fertiliser and water; and working with Mother Nature.

This approach encourages the fine fescue and bent grasses instead of the heavy reliance on water and fertiliser which promotes annual meadow grass. The result is a fast running and exciting course to play.

In the height of summer the courses will harden, the ball will roll out along the fast-running, contoured fairways. A player will not be greeted by a soft, over-watered greens, but instead a firm surface that encourages a faster, truer, roll of the ball and a premium on a well struck approach shot is demanded.

The aim of this management approach is to provide an authentic experience with greens that are dry, firm, and well-paced for the green size and undulations. Chasing excessive green speed through prolonged low cutting is avoided since this compromises grass composition and the club’s agronomic and environmental objectives.
